TORRINGTON CAVALIERS MAKE £80,000
The Torrington Cavaliers are over the moon to announce that their August bank holiday BIG BURN event raised an incredible £80,000 for charity!
A share of that will go to the four named charities – Devon Air Ambulance; North Devon Hospice; Guide Dogs for the Blind Association; and Torrington Commons Conservators – with the rest going into a pot that smaller local charities and good causes can apply to.
Cavaliers Chairman Mark Keeley said “We’re absolutely delighted. Considering the event was postponed due to the Covid pandemic and then with the uncertainty this year, it’s a great result. Our best yet!”
Around 9,000 people saw a full-size replica of the Mayflower go up in flames alongside a spectacular pyromusical and huge fireworks finale. Earlier in the evening the crowd also enjoyed live music and Rowlands fair rides.
Cavaliers Secretary Nick Hallam said “We’re now inviting smaller charities and good causes to apply to our bonfire fund. I’m afraid there’s no guarantee of a donation but we will consider all applications received and we are restricting it to northern Devon.”
Applications must be made in writing and include evidence of need plus proof of identity. Please send to Torrington Cavaliers, 36 Rosemoor Road, Torrington EX38 7NB or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. with “Bonfire Fund” in the subject line. The deadline for applications is Monday 25th October.

Saturday 24th July 2021
Thanks to KAS Crane hire who have supported us since 1990 the 2 masts and the Church spire were successfully lifted into place. Without the help of Brian and Andrew we would not be able to built our spectacular bonfires THANK YOU!
Unfortunately the weather was not so supportive but that didn't stop us!
We are now well on the way to the Big Burn on the 28th August!
The build is progressing at pace now with lots of work being carried out on the 2 masts ably assisted by our youngest helper George. We also had a visit from Wally the Walrus!
Why not come to the bonfire site on the morning of Saturday 24th July and witness the two masts being raised using 2 cranes courtesy of KAS Crane hire.
