May Fair Day and the Carnival with the Cavaliers!

It was a busy day as usual but we had a very enjoyable time. We arrived in the square at 07:00 to get everything ready for the day's proceedings and then retired to the Black Horse for breakfast.

The "dancing" Cavaliers met in the Globe Hotel to change into thier fireman costumes, kindly made by Toni Alexander;

and then after some other acts came the Cavaliers Dance Routine as the Trumpton Fire Men.

The audience enjoyed it so much there was an encore! Well done lads!

It was now time for refreshments! before we all got changed for the fun and games in the afternoon Cavalier Style and our wives and partners took the roles of the ladies from trumpton.

Most of the Cavaliers were dressed in the Trumpton theme with the soldiers led by Captain Snort, the Fire men Pugh, Pugh, Barney Mcgrew, Cuthbert, Dibble and Grub and of course Windy Miller and many more.

The theme of the game was that teams of 2 put on a full fireman's gear and had to carry a stretcher to the trees where they have to save a pet stuck up that tree, then with the pet safe on the stretcher it was onto the fire where they had to put out the flames with a water pistol then onto the next task which was to transfer water from buckets into a pipe until the duck can be reached. With both the pets safe on the stretcher they had to rescue the person from the burning house (each person weighed 50 kilo`s) and take the person and the 2 pets back to the start line.

We had a surprise visit by Torrington's local character Roger Ayre!

Both our wiining teams gave their prize back to us to use foir our charitable purposes and we thank them for that.

Now we move on to Saturdays Carnival which again was the Trumpton theme with a Fire engine.
