Normally we have a 2 year break after a major bonfire but this time we knew that 2020 will be something special not only because it will be our 50th anniversary but also the 400th anniversary of the sailing of the Mayflower from Plymouth in 1620. For more info visit www.mayflower400uk.org/education. It was the commemoration of the 350th Anniversary in Plymouth that triggered the birth of the Great Torrington Cavaliers.

We have been in constant discussions and meetings since the Trumpton bonfire with the International Mayflower organisation team in Plymouth UK and are now nearing  a partnership and  staging our most ambitious and spectacular event ever!

We had our first Bonfire planning meeting in May this year and we are now actively discussing with the authorities, sourcing trees etc...
