Torrington Memory Cafe

We received a request from the Torrington memory cafe for funding to help pay for the hire of thier venues.

We agreed to donate £110

Streetz dance crew

The Streets dance crew are again taking thier teams to the international dance competition and asked we could help towards thecosts of getting the youngsters there.
We agreed to donate £250 pounds.

Bluecoat School -pensioners Christmas Dinner

The children of the Bluecoat school invite pensioners from Torrington to a Christmas dinner. We have recently supported this event and so when a request came in this year we were again ready to help financially.

We donated £150 to this worthy event.

We have since received a letter of thanks from the school telling us that the event was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

Torrington Amateur Boxing Club

[img_assist|nid=631|title=|desc=|link=node|align=left|width=100|height=65]We heard a request for the Torrington Amateur Boxing Club which had just started up in Torrington but need funds for various things including a boxing ring.

It was intended to encourage the youngsters to take up the sport but also allow adults to join as well..

It was agreed that we support the new club by donating some funds to help fund the new boxing ring.

£60,000 from the Castle Bonfire 2010 funds donated.

The cheque presentation was held in Great Torrington School`s new drama studio. It was very well attended and all the Cavaliers presented at least one cheque. This event is the highlight of the whole project and what the Cavaliers are all about.

Below are all the beneficiaries the top 2 being our main Charities who eached received 25% of the total, every group or organisation who applied received a share.

  • North Devon Cancer Care Centre Trust

Great Torrington Silver Band

The band wrote requesting assistance to repair a bad leak on thier building. They have most of the considerable funds in hand but are seeking aid for the rest.

We agreed to donate £150 towards the works.


Roborough Youth Judo

For young and older school children in the Roborough / Torrington area.

We received a request for financial assistance; after a change of committee they were running short of money but the attendance and finances are on the up.

We agreed to donate £100 to help them over the coming weeks until membership grows to a sustainable position.


Sponsored Cycle for Breast Cancer

A sponsored Cycle ride organised by Dave Kelly. Bikes were provided if required by Torrington Cycle Hire at the old Railway station Free of charge.

Afterward fun & Music and a bar entertained in to the night.

All monies donated to Breast cancer.


Cream Teas supporting Meningitis

We held an afternoon of Cream Teas with a Bar and music beside the River at Drummetts mill, Torrington. Monies raised were split 50/50 between the Cavaliers and the Mengingitis trust. For more information visit the past events page.


Cavaliers support Cancer

The proceeds ,£4000, of the sponsored walk/run/pogo ran last year on the Tarka trail, have been presented.

The event was organised by Dick Matthews and Dave Kelly to support two Cancer charities; Breast & Prostate. Both close to the hearts of Dave & Dick. The Cavaliers are always good supporters of Cancer charities.
